Choosing The Best Backsplash Tile
Selecting the perfect backsplash tile can be a real mission!
Backsplash tile can set the mood for your entire kitchen and can make using your space far more enjoyable, the real issue is finding the right tile for your kitchen. There are a few different considerations that you should take when picking your backsplash that can make a huge difference in the overall finished product.
The first thing to keep in mind when selecting your tile is the color of your kitchen compared to the color of the tile that you are choosing. Backsplashes offer a chance to add a pop of color or a chance to keep with the current theme that you already have. Darker tiles tend to close in a space and make it appear much darker and less open while white tiles make a space seem bigger. Darker tiles, however, do tend to hide dirt and grime while white tiles show every little spot.
Another thing to keep in mind is the size of the tile. While larger tiles are certainly an option if you prefer, they are often not the norm. In most cases, smaller tiles are going to be used in backsplash tiles to give tons of visual interest and really make a statement. Smaller tiles are also easier to adapt around fixtures, counters, and light sockets that may be already part of your backsplash area. Larger tiles can make a statement and smaller tiles can be moved around existing features. Middling size tiles are a great compromise and they can be just as interesting.
The last thing to keep in mind when choosing your tile is the pattern in which they will be laid out. Since backsplash tile is not on the floor and therefore is not going to be in a heavy traffic area and may not see as much dirt, you have a bit more freedom with the pattern. You can opt for a traditional grid pattern or can switch it up with a fun pattern that showcases feature tiles or that goes with a geometric shape.
When installing your tile simply ask your installer what options you have when it comes to your tile and to the overall look of the finished project. Backsplash tile is a great way to add a pop of color to your kitchen without going all out and it can truly add visual interest to any space in a very practical and beautiful way.
